Air India Express Flight Faces Mid-Air Emergency, Returns Safely to Trichy

On 11 October 2024 an Air India Express plane flying from Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) airport to Sharjah suffered a hydraulic failure within seconds of its take-off. There were 144 passengers on board. The landing gear had also failed. The pilots needed to return back to Trichy. The aircraft circled over the airport for nearly two hours until it had burned enough fuel to make a belly landing at the airport.

It led to an emergency response at the airport, in terms of the arrival of fire tenders and ambulances. Fortunately, the flight has been landed without injuries to passengers or members of the crew. The DGCA is tracking this situation closely, and the investigation regarding the cause of hydraulic failure is underway already​
